When restaurateur Claire McGowan asked us to design the identity for her new coffee shop in the Guildhall, we couldn’t have been more enthusiastic. The Guildhall, one of Derry’s most recognisable buildings, is a fabulous structure and we felt that Guild’s identity should remain sympathetic to the context of its setting.
Ultimately, the logo borrowed its style from the design of the Guildhall’s windows in the form of a series of geometric shapes. Once we had stylised the appearance of the lettering, we felt that the logo could stand on its own without a supporting strapline or any additional motifs.
In addition to Guild’s identity and packaging, we also produced tote bags (in tasteful greys, aubergines and golds), window vinyls, menu boards and loyalty cards for faithful patrons. We also designed a clean and appealing website using a muted colour palette and featuring stunning photographs of Guild’s delicious cakes and treats.
Red Dog really got what I was trying to achieve with The Beach House and Guild. They have positioned both absolutely spot on. Stylish, contemporary yet accessible to the local communities. I really believe their work has helped us get so far, so soon. The Beach House got Winner of Georgina Campbell’s Casual Dining Restaurant of the Year 2013 and Guild is in the new McKenna guide. They are my agency of choice for any new venture or development work.
