Founded in Kingscourt, Co Cavan in Ireland in 1965, Kingspan is a global brand that has expanded its operations to more than 70 countries and now employs in excess of 10,000 people. The worldwide leader of high-performance insulation and building envelopes, Kingspan differentiates itself through its constant development of innovative and patent-protected proprietary technology.
In our exploratory briefing with Kingspan’s CEO, Gene Murtagh, we learned that Kingspan is driven by good design and innovation. We soon came to understand that this needed to be reflected in the design along with one of the critical pillars of globalisation that Kingspan wanted to highlight – their people.
This year the report allows the Kingspan team to speak for themselves – the global scale of Kingspan is represented with a human theme. Each hero shot is supported with the cutting-edge innovations they are involved in. Interspersed among the portraiture are the architectural shots of buildings using Kingspan products – reiterating the truly global nature of their operation.
All of this is tied together with the use of a bright fluorescent orange which reflects the group’s innovative approach to business while also complimenting Kingspan’s existing colour palette of blues and teals.
As in previous years, we adapted the design for screen, allowing readers to view a digital summarised version of the annual report and download relevant sections in pdf format.
We wanted a fresh perspective for our 2016 annual report, and we engaged Red Dog who put forward some really innovative and original ideas. They quickly grasped the Kingspan ethos and understood our needs and requirements while bringing a sense of creativity to the project. They were a delight to work with and managed the project well. The end result was a very polished and impressive document with a modern twist, which was universally well received by shareholders and stakeholders alike.
