Conference Invitation

Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) 20 years on:
going to scale in fragile contexts

A practitioners’ conference, hosted online

22—25 March 2021
12:00—15:00 GMT each day

Concern Worldwide, in partnership with Irish Aid, invites you to a practitioners’ conference to mark the 20th anniversary of Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM).

Please register above to participate in this virtual conference.

Full agenda to follow.

The introduction of CMAM, launched in 2000, was a game changer in the detection and treatment of child wasting and oedema, and for child survival more broadly.

Two decades on, the fundamentals of the original model – community mobilisation, ready-to-use-therapeutic food, simple assessment and treatment protocols - remain central to its effectiveness. Much has been learned, as practitioners and policy makers continuously adapt the approach to local contexts.

Please join us as we reflect on progress made in the past two decades, share local learnings, and discuss how to scale CMAM strategies to meet the particular needs of those living in fragile contexts and vulnerable communities.

Kind regards,

Dominc MacSorley
