Kerry Group Annual Report 2024

Kerry Group’s 2024 Annual Report - our tenth for the global leader - proudly reflected their brand purpose: Inspiring Food, Nourishing Life. The report captured a milestone year for the business, marked by several strategically significant portfolio developments that signal continued growth and innovation.

The Background

From a small dairy company in the southwest of Ireland to a global organisation, the journey of Kerry is a story of a belief in innovation and a commitment to excellence.

They have over 50 years of experience in taste, nutrition, and food science. Their portfolio spans food, beverage, biotechnology, pharma and proactive health.

Throughout their journey, they’ve stayed close to their food heritage, while drawing on expertise and inspiration from all over the world.

This year’s report introduced a significant new challenge for both the agency and the client: compliance with CSRD reporting requirements. Under the new EU legislation, companies exceeding a certain size threshold must now disclose comprehensive information regarding the risks and opportunities they perceive in relation to social and environmental issues, as well as the impacts of their operations on people and the planet.

Meeting these obligations proved to be a substantial undertaking and resulted in the addition of over 100 pages to an already extensive report.

The Idea

The idea for this year's report was based on integrating a newly evolved Kerry visual brand guidelines which shaped the typography and imagery. This was our starting point for the layout of the printed book version. We brought it to life through imagery and graphic design demonstrating the three Kerry pillars; science, people and impact. Due to the huge increase in content because of CSRD reporting we worked with the layout and structure in a way which would allow us to save some space without compromising the design.

The new treatment of imagery includes cut-outs which we used as hero shots throughout. New hexagonal shapes also allowed us to highlight key and engaging information to assist the reader to absorb the main messaging. At the end of the day good nutrition and sustainable food is about the future of our planet….it seemed fitting therefore to feature a child on the cover.

The Execution

We delivered a portfolio of integrated reporting material, including the Group’s printed Annual Report, interactive PDF and Microsite that brought the layout of the printed book version to life online. The single page scroller serves as an overview and gateway into the more detailed book leaning on subtle micro-interactions & scrolling animations to elevate the experience.

Red Dog has been our trusted creative partner for our annual report for the past decade. This year brought unique challenges for both teams, as we navigated new reporting regulations and incorporated an expanded, high-priority Sustainability section. Additionally, we introduced a refreshed visual language, adding another exciting dimension to the project.

The printed and digital versions of the report is not only perfectly aligned with our brand but also delivers an engaging and seamless user experience. Red Dog’s ability to balance creativity with clarity truly elevated the final piece.

Throughout the process, their team remained flexible, supportive, and solutions-focused—helping us bring our newly restructured report to life. The result is a standout piece of investor communications we’re proud to share.
